Drone Reel: Aerial Cinematography for Film, TV, and Commercial Production

Selected drone cinematography work from Drone Tech Aerial. FAA Part 107 licensed aerial unit based in Los Angeles, operating since 2014 with credits across Netflix, HBO, Disney+, Roku, MTV, and national commercial campaigns.

What is in the Reel

The work in this reel collects more than a decade of aerial cinematography across feature documentary, scripted and unscripted television, commercial campaigns, music videos, live event broadcasts, and motorsports coverage. Every shoot was operated by an FAA Part 107 licensed pilot, with FilmLA permitting and LAANC airspace authorization handled in-house. The cinema platforms include the DJI Inspire 3 with Zenmuse X9-8K full-frame, the Freefly Alta 8 configured for ARRI Alexa Mini payloads, and custom FPV rigs for high-speed action.

Network and streaming television represented in the reel includes Netflix originals (Inside Bill’s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates, Living Undocumented, White Rabbit Project, Unstable), Universal Pictures (Based On a True Story), Disney+ (Percy Jackson and the Olympians), MTV / Paramount (The Challenge), 44 Blue / truTV (Backyard Bar Wars), and Roku (Bill Burr Presents: Immoral Compass). Live event broadcast work includes the Golden Globes and the American Music Awards through Dick Clark Productions.

Brand and commercial work includes campaigns for Yves Saint Laurent (with Dua Lipa), Ferrari, Polestar, Polaris, Nitto Tires, Hankook, Lululemon, and Cavalia. Music videos include One Direction’s Infinity. Motorsports coverage includes King of the Hammers, the Baja 1000, and Formula Drift live broadcast work.

How We Make Aerial That Cuts Into the Master

The aerial unit operates as a department of the camera team, not as a vendor. That distinction shapes everything you see in the reel. Pre-production handles FilmLA permits and LAANC airspace authorization in-house. The platform is matched to the principal camera package so the aerial footage cuts to A-camera without color correction in post. On set, the pilot, camera operator, and ground safety integrate with the 1st AD and DP on the same comms as the rest of the camera team.

For productions where the principal camera is ARRI Alexa Mini, we fly the Freefly Alta 8 configured for that specific package. For broader film and TV work, the DJI Inspire 3 with the Zenmuse X9-8K covers most coverage and establishing work. For action sequences and proximity shots, custom FPV rigs extend the camera angle range that traditional drones cannot access.
