Drone Tech Aerial is a Los Angeles drone crew built for film, television, and commercial production. Every pilot on our team holds an active FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate plus the night flight, airspace, and operations-over-people waivers that complex productions in LA airspace require. We staff as a department: pilot, camera operator, ground safety, and producer-side coordination on FilmLA permitting and LAANC airspace authorizations.
Jaron Denson
PILOT / ENGINEER
Jaron Denson served the U.S. Department of Defense for 5 years engineering, manufacturing and piloting unmanned aircraft. He holds an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, a B.S. in Physics and holds a Private Pilots and Part 107 license. Once a lead aeronautical engineer at an unmanned aircraft company, Jaron understands the importance of attention to detail, methodical operation and has flown aircraft around the world and on military ranges. In 2013 he turned his attention to the fast-growing sector of commercial unmanned aviation, focusing his talents on aerial cinematography by co-founding Drone Tech Aerial Cinematography. Jaron self authored one of the first 333 Exemptions granted by the FAA and teamed with other professionals in film production to provide a no-nonsense approach to getting the shots. Jaron's foundation has enabled Drone Tech Aerial to operate at any level with unparalleled access in the industry for the Los Angeles area.
Randall Berkeley
PILOT / CINEMATOGRAPHER
Randall Berkeley has applied his natural creative talent to many aspects of the visual media field, from camera operator to colorist and editor of various sales and marketing productions. He also has a long standing background in building and testing radio controlled equipment and robotics.
Drawing on this breadth of knowledge he became well versed in all aspects of unmanned vehicle applications including constructing, tuning, flying, repairing and operating both multirotor aircraft and terrestrial rovers. Formerly Randall held multiple management and sales positions due to his ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships with customers and colleagues alike. He co-founded Drone Tech Aerial Cinematography and is an integral part of the creative and technical process.
