Aerial Cinematography for TV Commercials and Branded Content

Drone Tech Aerial provides aerial cinematography units for TV commercials, branded content, and advertising campaigns produced in Los Angeles and across Southern California. We work directly with ad agencies, production companies, and brand in-house teams on projects ranging from 15-second broadcast spots to multi-day campaign shoots.

We are a Netflix Approved Vendor and carry FAA Part 107 certification, $10M liability insurance, and full FilmLA permitting capability. Airspace authorizations, COAs, and location permits are handled in-house.

How We Work on Commercial Productions

Aerial units for commercial work operate differently than documentary or event coverage. Schedules are tighter, creative briefs are more specific, and agency clients expect a department-level operator who can execute without hand-holding. That is how we work.

We coordinate directly with your DP and AD in pre-production, arrive with a complete aerial unit, and deliver camera-ready footage in the format your post house requires. We do not subcontract.

Camera Systems

DJI Inspire 3: Primary platform. Shoots up to 8K RAW, covering DCI 4K, 4K UHD, and proxy deliverables in a single pass. Supports 23.976 through 120fps for slow-motion aerials. Full DJI DL lens system.

Canon C70: For matching camera packages already on set.

Freefly Alta 8: For larger cinema glass when the creative calls for it. Requires pre-production coordination.

Color science and LUT packages provided on request for seamless integration with your DIT workflow.

Deliverables

ProRes 422 HQ or RAW depending on post requirements. Standard turnaround for selects: 24 to 48 hours. Rush delivery available.

Footage organized by scene, angle, and take matching your shoot report.

Locations

Based in Los Angeles. We regularly shoot commercials throughout the LA basin including Santa Monica and the Westside, Malibu and the PCH corridor, the San Fernando Valley, Long Beach and the Port of LA, downtown Los Angeles, and Ventura County. Available for travel on campaign shoots.

Airspace and Permits

Los Angeles is one of the most restricted airspace environments in the country. We manage all FAA authorizations through LAANC and direct coordination, and maintain active relationships with FilmLA for commercial permitting. Permit status is confirmed before your shoot day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you work with ad agencies directly? Yes. We work with agency producers, brand marketing teams, and independent production companies. We are comfortable on both union and non-union sets.

Can you match our existing camera package? In most cases, yes. Let us know the camera and glass your DP is using and we will confirm compatibility or suggest an alternative that matches your color pipeline.

What is your minimum booking? Half day or full day. Standby rates and weather holds available for weather-dependent shoots.

Do you carry insurance? Yes. $10M general liability, $5M hull coverage, and additional insured certificates available for your production company and agency client.

How far in advance do we need to book? Minimum five business days for commercial work. Rush bookings considered case by case.
