LA Drone Company, Drone Tech Aerial Cinematography, Goes FAA Exempt in 2015

As the year comes to a close, the team at Drone Tech Aerial reflects on the past 365 days. The highs, the lows…success and hard lessons learned.

The most notable advance made by Drone Tech Aerial this year has been the procurement of a section 333 FAA exemption. In conjunction with commercial drone insurance, the section 333 FAA exemption means that Drone Tech Aerial is now 100% legal to operate commercially in the U.S.

New Heavy Lift: The Devourer X8

2015 has been good. Drone Tech Aerial acquired some new equipment this year, and said goodbye to a few birds as well.

We start the new year with a new heavy lift vehicle, the Devourer X8. At the heart of this beast is the DJI A2 flight controller, which manages a power system from KDE Direct. A custom built vibration isolation plate and a Cinemilled billet adapter receive DJI Ronin or Movi gimbals. Video signal is sent back to the ground station in HD via the Amimon Connex system.

• Flies RED, ARRI Alexa Mini, and 360 VR camera rigs

New in the Kit: DJI Inspire 1 Pro

Also new to the Drone Tech Aerial arsenal is the DJI Inspire 1 Pro, featuring the new X5 camera and gimbal. The system shoots DSLR quality 4K footage from a camera similar to a Panasonic GH4, but only a bit larger than a GoPro. It uses real glass, with the option to switch prime lenses.

This lightweight, portable system lets us capture high quality aerial imaging from almost anywhere.

Ready for 2016

With new equipment and the compliance of a Section 333 exemption, Drone Tech Aerial Cinematography is ready for 2016 and beyond in professional aerial imaging and unmanned aerial system integration.
